The region of Minho (north of Portugal) is one of the most typical Portuguese regions, with its ancient traditions. The green of nature and the blue of the ocean contribute to some of the most beautiful landscapes in Portugal.
We will visit Viana do Castelo, a town which is embraced by the Atlantic Ocean and the Lima river. The first stop is the sanctuary of Santa Luzia, placed on the top of a mountain. The National Geographic Magazine (1927), described it as one of the most beautiful landscapes of the world, that includes river, sea, mountain and countryside. We will stroll through the old town and visit several monuments, including the Costume Museum. This is a unique place where you can see the typical costumes of the region.
Next destination is Ponte de Lima, Portugal’s oldest village. Besides its vital importance in the global history of the country, it is known by its beauty, gastronomy and best “vinho verde”. You will have the chance to visit this wonderful place, enjoy lunch at a regional restaurant, visit a wine producer and taste some wine.
On the banks of the Lima river, this village is a magic place that will make you go back in time. It’s impossible not to like it!
